The complete Everything is a Remix video documentary [Video]
If you haven’t seen this yet, and I hadn’t until the final part was posted the other day, this documentary by Kirby Ferguson is something well worth taking the time to watch.
If you are interested in copyright, patents, copying, and all things that we take for granted today then this documentary is well worth watching as Kirby looks at all aspects of our world today to show how when you really get down to the core everything we read, watch, listen to, or gadgets we use to create those things everything is just a remix of everything that has come before.
He also shows us that we are headed to a very dangerous precipice and that if we really want change and return to the original meaning of things like copyrights and patents then it will be up to us not the companies and individuals who have warped the system to their financial benefit.

Everything is a Remix Part 3: The Elements of Creativity
Creativity isn’t magic. Part three of this four-part series explores how innovations truly happen.
Everything is a Remix Part 4: System Failure
Our system of law doesn’t acknowledge the derivative nature of creativity. Instead, ideas are regarded as property, as unique and original lots with distinct boundaries. But ideas aren’t so tidy. They’re layered, they’re interwoven, they’re tangled. And when the system conflicts with the reality… the system starts to fail.
