Reddit Supplies Classroom With ‘Hunger Games’ Books For Each Student

Reddit, the adorable band of internet do-gooders slash angry mob (depending on who you are and what you’ve done or need) has done some do-gooding again- though on a smaller scale than some of their past charitable efforts.

The blog Seattle Pulp posted about a plea from a high school teacher in the Seattle area who sought copies of the first book in the popular Hunger Games trilogy for students. According to the paper and the teacher with whom they spoke, the Reddit community eagerly stepped up to supply the students with the book, and now every kid in the class has received a copy and is working through it- teacher Tristan Conley explains:

“My roommates are always on the Seattle subreddit, so it just randomly occurred to me to ask to borrow books from people… I think the idea worked because kids reading is a pretty easy campaign to support. Plus a lot of people bought the box set when all three books finally came out so they had a spare first book to unload.”

A very cool Reddit story with a happy ending, but don’t let Ron Paul find out or he’ll suggest defunding libraries!
