Kelly Preston Mulls Having Another Baby at 50 After Son’s Tragic Death
Kelly Preston and John Travolta have not had an easy go of it in recent years, with the death of their son and some recent legal troubles haunting the family as they try to move forward.
Following the sudden and tragic death of 16-year-old Jett Travolta in 2009, Preston gave birth to a son, Benjamin, in 2010. Benjamin came late in life for the couple, but Preston says that following the years of grief after Jett’s death, she has considered further adding to her family.
In a recent interview, Preston wistfully describes her parenting experience, saying that she realizes it might be difficult to have another baby, but the idea is compelling:
“I always wanted to have more kids. I feel like I would even have another child, but it might be pushing it… I’m not afraid to love and to love deeply. My kids help me with that. They open up your heart so much. There’s nothing like the love of a child… it’s the greatest thing ever.”
Speaking about Jett’s death to Amanda DeCadenet in a TV interview, Preston explains:
“I’ve had enormous loss. Nobody should have to lose a child. It’s unfathomable. But I’m here to say that you can get through it. You can live again. You can want to live again… Everybody grieves in their own way. I felt at times like I was drowning. It felt like a sea of wet blankets. And then I just peeled them off, layer by layer, so that I can now say, ‘I want to live.’ I love life. My life is beautiful and amazing.”
Kelly Preston and John Travolta are also parents to 12-year-old daughter Ella Bleu.
