Hotel Offers Free Nights Stay For Art Work

The Clarion Hotel In Stockholm

If you are an artist passing through Stockholm or a resident looking for a free room for the night you might want to try out The Clarion Hotel where handing over a piece of artwork can earn you a free nights stay.

According to marketing manager Tess Mattisson in an interview with The Local:

“It all started with the fact that our general manager’s grandfather was an artist.”

The hotel then uses New York’s famous Chelsea Hotel as inspiration, it was at that hotel that artists were able to hand over pieces of art for a free nights stay.

In fact Clarion’s GM is no stranger to the Chelsea where his grandfather had artwork hanging.

According to Mattison:

“And now that their hotel has closed down, the manager was so inspired that our hotel will continue the tradition.”

While the hotel will accept any art from squiggles on paper to painting and poetry most of the hotels visitors provide compelling pieces of artwork.

The hotel hopes to make its location a hotspot for artists visiting and living in Stockholm.
