Andy Griffith Has Passed Away At The Age Of 86





Entertainment on Today is reporting that Andy Griffith, one of America’s most iconic television actors, has passed away at the age of 86.

Griffith is best know for two great roles: Sheriff Andy Taylor in “The Andy Griffith Show” from the 1960’s and then as Matlock a down home country lawyer in the 1980’s.

Griffith’s career began with comic monologues and then in the 50’s he moved into doing movies but he real breakthrough came in the 60’s when he played America’s sheriff in the small town of Mayberry along with then child actor Ron Howard as well as funny man Don Knotts. The show ran until 1968.

Then in 1986 he returned to television playing the character of Ben Matlock a lawyer in a southern town. The show ran until 1995.

There is no word yet on the cause of death but he survived by his wife Cindi and daughter Dixie.
