Mother Dolphin Carries Her Dead Baby For Three Days [Video]
There is a lot of debate about the intelligence of dolphins and whether or not they one of the most intelligent mammals next to man but while we may not be able to tell IQ wise this story definitely shows that dolphins are capable of human-like sorrow.
Recently a mother dolphin was captured on video in China’s Sanniang Bay as she struggled for three days to carry her dead offspring on her back. The baby dolphin had a gash on its belly that measured approximated 30cm long.
The fishermen and tourists who witnessed this touching time said that the 1.5m-long calf fell of the back of the mother dolphin several times but each time the mother managed to get it back in place on her back just in front of the dorsal fin.
