More Money Is Spent On Bedsores By Britain Than NASA Can Spend On Planetary Science

Over the last years we have seen NASA slowly decline as year after year its budgets have been slashed, and continue to be slashed, and even though we might cheer on efforts like the Curiosity Rover mission to Mars the reality is that NASA’s goal to send man out into space to explore has been, for the most, laid to rest.

Just how badly NASA’s budgets for various areas of exploration has been cut to the bone can be seen in some recent numbers from United Kingdom’s National Health Service of all places.

It turns out that the NHS spends just about $3 billion US (£2-billion) a year on the treatment of bed sores – skin and muscle injuries that are common with bed ridden patients; which turns out to be more than twice what NASA can spend for its 2012 planetary science budget.

Twice the amount.

That is really sad.
