French Retailer Trademarks Anonymous Logo – Not The Smartest Move In The World





You have to really wonder sometimes if anyone at large companies even have a clue about the Internet, but it seems that French retailer Early Flicker, a retailer that carries the Apollinaire brand, got the brilliant idea of going for a new trademark.

Now of course there’s nothing wrong with trying to get a trademark on something, companies do it everyday, but I’d really like to know who the brilliant person was at the company that thought it would be a good idea to trademark the Anonymous name and logo for an upcoming ‘geek’ type of t-shirt.

It goes without saying that doing something like is only going to result in one thing – pissing off the Anonymous group, which as many companies, government, and police have found out is a really stupid idea.

So it shouldn’t come as any surprise that Anonymous found out about the trademark attempt and have posted a warning video to the company that the hactivist group will begin preparing for an attack known as “Operation AnonTrademark”. They state that the attack will continue until the trademark has been revoked and the company issues a public apology.
