Dannielynn Birkhead, Daughter of Anna Nicole Smith, Steps Out at Kentucky Derby
Dannielynn Birkhead, the daughter of the late Playboy pinup and reality show star Anna Nicole Smith, made one of her very first big public appearances over the weekend.
Little Dannielynn is five now, but she was under six months old when she lost her mother. Just a few months prior to Anna Nicole’s death due to a drug overdose, Dannielynn’s older half-brother Daniel, for whom she was named and with whom her mother was extraordinarily close, died while attending to the model’s bedside after his sister was born.
Although her first year was undeniably tragic, there was a bit more drama ahead for Dannielynn as a baby, with a bitter custody battle mirroring her mother’s court struggles ensuing after Anna Nicole’s death. Ultimately, Anna Nicole’s former boyfriend Larry Birkhead was confirmed to be baby Dannielynn Birkhead’s dad, not lawyer Howard K. Stern, who had also claimed paternity.
Dannielynn visited the Kentucky Derby with her dad (a Louisville native) this weekend, wearing a flowery dress and hat and looking strikingly like one imagines Anna Nicole must have looked at the age of five. Aside from her Derby turn, Dannielynn spends most of her life outside the spotlight.
