Whitney Houston Dead At 48, Cause Of Death Unknown
Whitney Houston died on Saturday at the age of 48. The singers death was first reported by her publicist and comes at a time in the singers life when she had been battling a dangerous addiction to drugs that is said to have wiped out her once massive fortune.
In May 2011 Houston had entered a drug rehab center after she performed a horrendous concert in which her once golden voice was nowhere to be found. Following that concert her rep said of her trajectory in life:
“Whitney Houston is currently in an out-patient rehab program for drug and alcohol treatment. Whitney voluntarily entered the program to support her long-standing recovery process.”
While Whitney managed to sell more than 55 million albums in the U.S. alone during the 1980’s and 1990’s her marriage to bad boy musician Bobby Brown eventually led her down a path to self destruction.
In 1993 Houston practically predicted her own downfall when she told Rolling Stone of her Bobby Brown romance:
“When you love, you love. I mean, do you stop loving somebody because you have different images? You know, Bobby and I basically come from the same place… You see somebody, and you deal with their image, that’s their image. It’s part of them, it’s not the whole picture. I am not always in a sequined gown. I am nobody’s angel. I can get down and dirty. I can get raunchy.”
It’s still not clear what caused the singers death although it’s believed that she died in a Beverly Hills Hotel.
Whitney Houston was last spotted in public last week with her sometimes boyfriend rapper Ray-J.
