‘Emo’ Haircuts Result In The Death By Stoning Of Dozens Of Iraqi Teenagers
The last thing that one would think of being the reason for killing someone, let alone teenagers, being a style of haircut but this is apparently exactly the reason why dozens of Iraqi teenagers have ended up dead.
The violent crackdown by Iraqi Moral Police which saw the death of 90 teenagers by stoning was the result of the “emo” hair style being declared as evil by the Iraqi Interior Ministry, and that teenagers sporting the hairstyle were “devil worshippers”.
In a statement the Interior Ministry had this to say
“The ‘Emo phenomenon’ or devil worshiping is being probed by the Moral Police who have the approval to eliminate it as soon as possible since it’s detrimentally affecting the society and becoming a danger,” a statement by the Interior Ministry said. “They wear strange, tight clothes that have pictures on them such as skulls and use stationery that are shaped as skulls. They also wear rings on their noses and tongues, and do other strange activities,” the statement added.

It appears that the country’s Moral Police were granted approval by the Ministry of Education to enter Baghdad schools and pinpoint any students with Western appearance. Activists reported that a group of armed men dressed in civilian clothes too the teenagers to a secluded area and proceeded to stone them to death.
