Yammer Will Pay Any Yahoo Employee Who Defects $25,000

Business based social network Yammer has an offer that might be hard for some Yahoo employees to ignore. The company’s CEO David Sacks announced on Thursday that his company will pay any Yahoo programmer who defects to his company a $25,000 signing bonus.

The deal is valid for the next 60 days and was announced via a Twitter post just days after Sacks started attacking Yahoo over the patent suit it filed against Facebook earlier in the week.

Sacks has asked that Silicon Valley company’s blackball any Yahoo employees who remain with the company after two months.

Speaking to Wired the Yammer CEO revealed:

“If established companies like Yahoo decide that patent trolling is a legitimate form of business, it will destroy Silicon Valley. The only check on their behavior is community outrage.”

Yahoo’s patent lawsuit claims that Facebook’s social network, advertising services and messages services infringe on 10 Yahoo patents. The lawsuit has sparked widespread outrage from industry experts who believe the US Patent system is tragically flawed because confusing wording in patents can give company’s complete control of certain industry’s.

Do you think Yahoo executives will ultimately lead to the downfall of the company through public outrage and greed? I personally refuse to use any Yahoo products any longer.
