Some Of The Coolest Playground Equipment You Will Ever See And Your Kids Will Drool For

It seems that in this day and age of kids being wrapped in bubble wrap and protected from everything in the world that the playground equipment we see in parks and schools are a reflection of that sterility. Made of plastic and rounded corners it is all marketed as being a safe environment for your children to play in.

It might be “safe” but it is also boring as hell and all the same.

Thankfully one company in Denmark, Monstrum, doesn’t feel this way as you can see from the images in this post of their imaginative playgrounds.

These are the type of things that challenge a kid’s imagination, instead of swinging from plastic coated bars or climbing ‘just the safe height’ kiddie rock walls.

From the company and their philosophy about children’s playgrounds:

MONSTRUM believes that playground design should be a reflection of the world surrounding us.
We see the world as a place full of colour. We meet boys that like pink and girls that likes trees, so why only play on a monky frame and a sandbox, when you can play in a moon crater or a submarine or a giant spider or an enormous snail or a Trojans horse or a rocket or an ant or a princess castle. The fantasy is infinite.
The visual effect can endulge from a far, a tall slide, a massive tower or a wave to play on can draw kids in from the street.

Personally I would far rather see my kids playing in this kind of play environment than want they currently have.

About the Author

Steven has been around the tech world long enough to see most of the stuff we think of cool happen before which leads to a certain bit of cynicism that has contributed to him being known as the cranky old fart of the Internet. Besides sharing some of the goodness that he finds with you here at 42x you can also find him curating some digital goodness at Winextra (tech type stuff) and Rotten Gumdrops (for your daily dose of WTF).
