Hole Opens Up Under Girl As She Is Walking Down The Street [Video]

Talk about having the world disappear from underneath you but one young girl in northern China found just that happen to her as she was walking along, minding her own business, when the sidewalk crumbled from under her and she fell into the hole that appeared under her.

Lucky for her a passing taxi driver saw what happened, pulled over, and climbed down the hole to rescue her. Due to the constantly shifting earth in the hole both the taxi driver and the girl had to wait until firemen came with ladders to get them both out.

The passing cab driver stopped immediately at the scene and climbed into the six-metre deep pit to help the girl.

“I called out to her but she didn’t respond. After I shook her a little, she came to,” said Wang Wei, a taxi driver in the northern city of Xi’an.

Wang climbed down to the bottom of the pit clinging to a cable under the pavement.

“The dirt kept showering down on us and the kid couldn’t stop crying,” he added.

Apparently the hole was caused when underground water had eroded the ground under the road and caused a cavity under the pavement.
