Over 80,000 Chrome Users Suckered Into Installing Malware Thanks To Fake Bad Piggies

Last year it was all about Angry Birds and while that game, and its various incarnations, are still popular Rovio is hoping that their new game, Bad Piggies, will be just as much of a hit; and so it would seem do malware writers.

Unfortunately though it seems that some 80,000 Chrome browser users who downloaded what they thought was a legitimate version of the game from the Chrome Web Store instead found themselves infested with some rather nasty malware. Of course the first clue should of been the fact that the game isn’t available as a browser based game but that didn’t stop some people from trying it anyway.

At least seven malware laden extensions using the Bad Piggies keyword was discovered by Barracuda Networks and Google has already responded and taken down the offending extensions.
