Ted Nugent Gets Secret Service Call After Comments About the President

Pretty much everyone knows that threatening comments about the president, particularly very public ones, will land you in serious trouble- but it appears that Ted Nugent is that dopey.

The aging rocker and politically backward star made some comments over the weekend that fall into that camp, saying that if the likely occurrence of President Obama achieving a second term comes to pass, by next year, Nugent would be “dead or in jail.” He further implored supporters to “cut Democrats’ heads off” in preparation for the election in November.

Nugent has been a prominent supporter of Mitt Romney in the Election 2012 lead-up, prompting for many to call for Romney to speak up and say that comments like the rocker’s aren’t acceptable. Michael Keegan of liberal think tank People For the American Way says:

“We don’t expect moderation from Ted Nugent… But we do expect a major presidential candidate like Mitt Romney to rebuke a prominent supporter for spewing hate-filled and violent rhetoric against the President of the United States.”

Indeed, it seems that disrespect of a sitting president has for some remarkable reason become even more acceptable among GOP adherents, but the Secret Service isn’t taking Nugent’s comments likely. The agency confirmed that it has an appointment to sit down with Nugent and discuss his off-color remarks, but the rocker isn’t backing down and defended his comments when speaking to conservative talking head Dana Loesch on Monday.
