Well this has to be one of the more unique uses for Pinterest and shows how at least one newspaper is using social media sites like Pinterest in ways that we might not have thought of.

It seems that the Pottstown Mercury thought it would be an interesting idea to create a list on Pinterest for all the people wanted by the police in the newspaper’s coverage area. At first one would think that this is not an idea that would work but contrary to that thought the Pottstown police have actually seen an increase in arrests by about 58%.

The arrests range from felony assault to theft, felony drug charges to fraud, and attempted murder to DUI and as Pottstown Police Captain F. Richard Drumheller said about the list:

“We have seen an increase in tips” from Mercury readers, he said. “Last time we checked, from when we first started (publicizing the outstanding warrants with The Mercury,) we have increased (the number of arrests) by about 58 percent. That’s pretty good.”

I wonder how long it will be before other law enforcement tries out the idea eh.
